Romanian-born NY-based award-winning playwright Saviana Stanescu, author of the acclaimed plays ALIENS WITH EXTRAORDINARY SKILLS (produced at Women's Project, New York, in 2008; currently revived at Know Theatre in Cincinnati and Teatro La Capilla in Mexico City in the Spanish version: Inmigrantes con Habilidades Extraordinarias) and WAXING WEST (winner of 2007 New York Innovative Theatre Award) will talk about writing/performing the immigrant experience.
Saviana arrived in New York a week before 9/11 to study at NYU as a Fulbright fellow. Since then, her artistic work has been inspired and informed by the vibrant everyday life in the Big Apple's melting pot. She's committed to capture "NY THROUGH AN IMMIGRANT I", "NEW YORK WITH AN ACCENT", and generally to explore that alien in-between space where most new immigrants dwell.

The presentation includes production photos, videos and readings of excerpts from Saviana's dramatic texts, followed by a discussion with the audience.
